The Psychology Intern is a learning position in which the Intern conducts intake evaluations, individual, group and family therapy and counseling under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist.

Responsibilities

1. Assist as treatment team members in evaluation, treatment planning and treatment on inpatient units or evaluation services when rotating in these areas.

2. Assist outpatient Ambulatory Mental Health Clinic team by conducting intake evaluations and participating in case disposition and treatment planning process.

3. Perform individual, group, couple or family psychotherapy under supervision in various outpatient clinics in the Department of Psychiatry.

4. Perform psychological, neuropsychological, and diagnostic testing under supervision with both inpatient and outpatient populations.

5. Attend and participate in training courses, seminars and case conferences.

6. Provide assistance in gathering diagnostic and other data from patients in research protocols.

Qualifications

-Work requires enrollment in a doctoral psychology program in Clinical, Counseling, School, or Clinical Neuropsychology. Interns must be accepted as a doctoral candidate by their respective programs before the start of the internship.

-Completion of all program coursework, including assessment/psychological testing courses. In addition, completed practicum year as well as at least one year of part-time externship.

-Work requires satisfactory completion of application and interview process by the Director of Training in Psychology as well as the faculty in the Psychology Department.

-Interpersonal contact skills are critical for good performance; good written and oral communication skills are mandatory.

-Work requires manual dexterity for use of computer keyboard. Light lifting of clinical supplies may be required. ​

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.5 - $16.5 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
